Meet the World's Tallest Female Dog

Greg Sample spent nearly two decades as president of the Avery Sample Financial Group in Ft. Myers, Florida. Since 2015, he has led operations at Zagato Business Analysis in Alva, Florida. Beyond his professional activities, Greg Sample enjoys spending time with his dog Lizzy, the tallest female dog in the world.

Lizzy is a Great Dane with black and white markings, though it is hardly her breed or coat color that captures most people’s attention. At three feet, 1.96 inches, Lizzy is the tallest female dog on the planet and less than seven inches shy of being the tallest dog ever, a title belonging to fellow Great Dane, Zeus.

Lizzy officially entered the Guinness Book of World Records at the age of seven, after an official measurement was taken by a local veterinarian. However, the dog’s owner reports that she had reached full height by the age of three. He also points out that he had to measure her using a device designed for small horses.

Despite her somewhat imposing stature, good-natured Lizzy gets along well with the significantly smaller terriers and cat with whom she was raised. Her favorite pastime is relaxing in the car alongside her owner for long drives. To date, Lizzy has been featured in the 2015, 2016, and 2017 Guinness editions as the tallest female dog.
